Love that you've updated again so soon. Hope you resolve the question of Sirius' freedom soon. One of the things that really stuck with me from the third movie is Gary Oldman's Sirius shouting, "I did my waiting! Twelve years of it! In Azkaban!" To see him vindicated by the Ministry in Harry's first year (rather than posthumously) would be great. And yeah, Harry'll probably be railroaded into spending his summers with the Dursleys "for his own protection," but at least Sirius would be around to keep them in line.

This just occurred to me on a re-read of the online summary of the Black family tree, plus an inference that in your canon that you consider Charlus Potter and Dorea Black to be James Potter's parents, but... even if Sirius was imprisoned, why didn't the wizarding authorities make sure Harry went to to any of his other Black relatives rather than to the Dursleys? Snape knew how wizard-phobic Petunia was. Even if the Weasleys couldn't take him (and you wouldn't him ending up with the Malfoys), what about Sirius' cousin Andromeda and her husband Ted?

On a separate note, the Black family connection make more sense of Harry nearly getting sorted into Slytherin; not only was he mystically connected to Voldemort by being an accidental Horcrux, but Slughorn said every Black he'd taught except Sirius was in Slytherin -- that presumably includes Dorea, Harry's grandmother; Andromeda Tonks; and Cedralla Black, Arthur Weasley's mother.

Also, I hope Rita Skeeter doesn't show up wanting a story if Sirius is exonerated; I hated how easily Molly Weasley believed the garbage that Rita wrote in the Goblet of Fire, despite the fact that Rita had already she couldn't be bothered to do decent fact-checking.

For one, Rita got Arthur's name wrong in an article, and two, she said Harry was twelve at the time of the Triwizard Tournament, when Molly knew that Harry was a fourth-year student like Ron and thus at least fourteen. Nobody should trust anything written by a journalist who can't get basic facts like names and ages right.
