Been spending the last few days revamping my tagging system here on LJ - good grief, I have a lot of fic posts, I'm only up through July '07 adding main characters and such, this is gonna take weeks - and came across an old meme in the process that tickled my fancy.

1. And neither was it Fred, from the strength of the grip: the stroke of a firm thumb up the column of his vertebrae sent his eyes fluttering shut again, and he tipped his head back, groaning as it sent tiny sparks of pleasurable sensation down his spine.
2. It soon became apparent that while he may have exchanged the sewers of Los Angeles for a warren of tunnels under a mountain in Colorado, and 'private investigations' for 'deep space radar telemetry', the atmosphere was little different, and the people who willingly worked there a remarkably familiar assortment of warriors and intellectuals.
3. He couldn't get the original location back, but he wanted something as similar as possible, within the same area... and once he did find it, processing the paperwork for the purchase was much more complicated than the last time he'd acquired property in the city.
4. Without the anger that had driven him when he'd accessed the pillar, the overwhelmingly fragile, organic, and totally accidental nature of his involvement seemed ridiculously obvious.
5. His wrecked arm was still tight and sore, even after several months of healing, and he didn't quite have all his stamina back yet, but that only kept him from racing; he could still handle a wrench, among other things, with only one good arm.
6. Jack glanced behind the former General as the event horizon evaporated behind him, leaving the Gate empty again before it could spit out any more travelers, and thought he had a pretty damn good idea why Jacob might be a little on edge.
7. The real problem was the kind of thing they'd all been too busy to so much as think about since Jim's interrupted hearing.
8. "He isn't a twin, he was never involved in the cloning project, teleportation research is still completely illegal, and there were no holograms involved."
9. This new Teal'c seems much the same as ever, but it is immediately obvious that this Sam is not at all like his; she seems uneasy in her own skin, sporting un-stylish glasses and a distinct lack of military posture.
10. Perseus James Jackson was five days old, crying fitfully in his cradle in his mother's single bedroom apartment, when Hurricane Andrew crossed the Bahamas on a path that would take it across the Gulf of Mexico and into Louisiana.
11. Even the most famous exception, Prince Tip, who had been the heiress until she was cursed as an infant, had never ruled as King-- though his affliction had led to new laws that gave the Queen's husband political power in his own right.

Date: 2012-07-22 07:55 am (UTC)The 7000 words or so I have thus far are nominally an action adventure starring D.G. with Zero as the antagonist again... but it's really an excuse for her to learn a lot more about the history of the crown she'll be inheriting (including the parts with Tip/Ozma + Dorothy Gale), and rehabilitating Zero in the process (because that history has a lot to do IMHO with his rationale for, well, everything). But the end story will have to be at least 20 or 30,000 words, I'm thinking, to cover the concept adequately; not sure when I'll get it done.
Anyway, I hope it doesn't disappoint when it finally does arrive. =)
