Well, The Ruins of Dantooine won't go on my list of books to reread, but it wasn't bad, either. Adequate exploration of a side-adventure in the larger universe, and the main character was likeable enough. I enjoyed the glimpses we got of Naboo and Dantooine, and the flyby clips of several of the main Star Wars characters. The plot was fairly predictable, though, and there were a couple of Mary Sue-ish moments that made me wince. So. On to Splinter of the Mind's Eye.
Did I mention yet how much I love finally having time to read? I used to be known as the girl who'd devour five books a week, but it's been down to a couple a month since I graduated college. *sigh* Welcome to the Real World, I know. You'd think I'd have adjusted to it after four years, but I don't think I'll ever accept the working world as my natural environment. It just doesn't fit.
I've seen the interests meme going around ... here's my version:

Time for some more job-hunting, I suppose. I'll update more later.

A book editor?

Not just books ... tons of old, musty stuff to dig through and quantify ... *sigh* That's the anthropologist in me speaking, though, and I'd need a Masters I can't afford to get for that kind of career.

Hee, hee. Gotta look for that silver lining, right?

Less than 4000 people have "Stargate SG-1" listed? Oh, no! We have to up that number, pronto. ;)

Date: 2004-10-22 04:56 pm (UTC)Don't let the "Star Wars Galaxies" label fool you when you find it. It's supposed to be a tie in to the new MMORPG, and you can tell there are a couple of threads let dangle to hook into the game, but the novel does manage to stand on its own.

I was more surprised that "remember the alamo" only came up with 5. Where is the dignity of all the native Texans, hunh? Probably gone the way of "Don't Tread On Me," I guess. *sigh* And I'd probably better not get started on that argument, it's one sure-fire way to get my temper going, even after all these years of living in the North.
