jedibuttercup: (hitman's bodyguard)
M; The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), Sonia/Darius + flirting, 2900 words. Fic #1 for Yuletide 2018.

Sonia glanced between Darius and the man standing next to him, taking in his smug expression and his companion's whole clean-cut, tight-assed younger man aesthetic, then made an aggravated noise in the back of her throat and swung the door shut in his face.

jedibuttercup: A view of the castle of Camelot (camelot)
T; King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, 6000 words. Arthur & Mage. Fic #2 for Yuletide 2018.

He'd make the best of things, of course; if nothing else, his uncle had been right about his drive. But Arthur's reign had begun in fire and blood, even as his father's had ended, and he would not forget that.

Total books went slightly up again in 2018, but slightly down again by page average, leaving me at 40,823 total pages for the year, compared to 42,977 in 2017. In more fun statistical news: it worked out to exactly nine books per month.

In other stats: 10/108 were non-fiction this time; 27 were re-reads, a pretty consistent percentage for me; and 10 were graphic novels.

To continue last year's additional analysis, 91/108 were identified as part of a series or larger creative universe of some kind. (Not taking many risks, was I? Comfort mind-food, I guess!) And in terms of genre: 50 were science fiction; 34 were fantasy of some variety (epic, urban, etc.); and 15 were mystery or thrillers or drama or romance, often in a historical setting. Only one was YA.

So, on to Year Thirteen of book tracking!

Book stats through 125 include 19 rereads, 10 nonfiction, 4 ya and 7 graphic novels.

jedibuttercup: (gonna live)
So, 2018 happened. Between my aunt, uncle, and cousin moving back home; my brother and his wife moving their family to a new house; my mom breaking her elbow and requiring three taxing surgeries and lots of help in the interim; trying to adjust my exercise schedule; and several other unexpected RL events, I had the worst writing year I'd experienced since 2008. (Also, not coincidentally, another year of very low personal energy and wrenching RL events in my personal circle.)

So. I'm skipping most of the analysis this year; click the Words tag if you want to dig into previous years' navel-gazing. Enough to say that I failed all my writing goals; thank God for fests and exchanges, or I wouldn't have written anything at all; and I think you can guess what my 2019 goals are. :)

On to the list of fic! )
