Post the first line from your 25 most recent fanfics and try to find a pattern.
Okay, then; with 1 being the oldest of the group and 25 the most recent...
1. Nate crossed his arms over his chest, staring down at the red-haired woman lying unconscious on the bio bed.
2. Reese's alliance with Carter has been a fragile thing from the start.
3. "Somebody's getting impatient," Nate said, staring at the twitching, broken-winged form of the massive dragonfly Buffy had dropped on his desk.
4. A life spent minimizing his own footprint-- and deliberately exposing that of others to scrutiny-- has left Finch, as Reese is so aware, a very private person.
5. Some days, I have to wonder whether my entire life has just been a setup to prepare me for some future disaster that no one's seen fit to fill me in on.
6. One, two, skip a few... how does the old rhyme go?
7. The three women took a trio of speeder bikes out into the jungle for speed and concealment, heading OTG to a point half a klick from the coordinates where Mr. Shannon had been caught by the Sixers.
8. "Cross into the Nevernever from where you're standing?" Nicodemus asked.
9. There's a moment, when Joss first spies Taylor's name on her caller ID-- when her breath catches and she realizes what John had been trying to say-- that she feels a white-hot burst of reflexive anger tangle with the fear blossoming up her spine.
10. Reese wonders, from time to time, exactly how much Finch knows about the mission that had broken his ties with the CIA and set him adrift without purpose.
11. I'd known from the start that there was something a little... different... about Finch.
12. "A most impressive report," Mr. Zabuto said, looking up at last from the pages Kendra had written on the long journey back from Sunnydale.
13. I should have known something wicked this way came the minute the mysterious detectors started going up around the boundaries of my city.
14. Finch has a habit of holding people at a distance.
15. The Watcher returned as she finished securing the bandage around her shoulder.
16. Their second meeting started out a little on the distant side.
17. Wesley had not had occasion to spend much time at the Ministry of Magic during his seven years at Hogwarts, and that had not changed upon his re-entry to the Wizarding world.
18. It starts on the sands at Cape Canaveral on July 16, 1969.
19. Funny thing, time.
20. Glitch remembered very few things from Before.
21. Luke had to admit, O'Conner and the Torettos were good at what they did.
22. Bra'tac was still smiling when he stood before the Tau'ri Stargate several hours after Daniel Jackson's miraculous return, despite the fact he would be stepping through it alone.
23. The hell of it is, it doesn't matter if the Skitter's telling the truth about its rebellion.
24. Barely a week in Terra Nova, and Jim Shannon had already seen more action than his entire last month on the force in 2147.
25. "You might say as how I've always been a rebel, Sir," Zoƫ said quietly, staring out the bridge windows into the starry night.
Of the 25 lines of fic:
That's less dialogue than the last time I tried this. Less tightly tied to POV. More first person, and a lot more present tense -- for a long, long time almost everything I wrote was third person limited past-tense POV. Huh.
I'm too tired to pick out more; any interesting things you guys see right off hand?
